From the 30th September – 2nd October 2016 Brides magazine took over the Business Design Centre in Angel, London for the annual wedding extravaganza Brides the Show! This year, Fashion Director of Brides magazine, Bryony Toogood bought the circus to the catwalk with an incredible display of show stopping bridal gowns.
Tucked away in the amphitheatre of this impressive venue is where the show took place, showing off the best in UK bridal design. In terms of showmanship, this year was another level of creativity and an experience for all viewers. As visitors entered the show, there was an exciting hallway of treats and fun gimics to get the crowd in to the spirit of the circus. With sweets, photobooths, candy floss and popcorn, guests were truly spoilt and got their money’s worth before the show even began.
Sponsors included Pops ice lollies, Joe & Seph’s ice cream, Propercorn, Pan-N-Ice and Sweet Impressions.
Each day there was a variety of different performers to introduce the catwalk of gorgeous and exciting dresses. Friday night’s opening show was treated to an awe-inspiring performance from gymnast group Alien Zoo.
Tilly Lee-Kronick opened the Saturday shows with her magnificent hula hooping skills.
Sunday saw an incredible combination of Tilly’s hula hooping show, along side Leo & Mahrinda– a dynamic acrobatic duo, and Airtime Events Animation– a barman cross juggling electric duo.
Designers showing off their beautiful designs included Andrea Hawkes, Catherine Deane, Charlie Brear, Ian Stuart, Kate Halfpenny, Katya Katya Shehurina, Naomi Neoh, Sanyukta Shrestha, Savin London, Sheila Harding & Suzanne Neville. Throughout the show actress Nancy Trotter Landry kept the audience energised with her quirky and engaging performance as a ringmaster.
First of Sanyukta Shrestha‘s gowns was the Robyn gown from the upcoming SS17 evening collection.
With an alternating ivory and soft yellow panelling feature, this gown is made from ethically sourced and manufactured silk satin. The dress features a soft cowl neck shape, with a split fishtail skirt. The train billows in a dramatic yet romantic flow that draws the viewers’ eye to the deep v-back with delicate crystal pendant.
Alongside this dress, Sanyukta Shrestha also featured the Greta gown from the same collection. This gown boasted a slinky sheer detail, showing off a slender silhouette. The ostrich feather capped sleeve draws extra attention to the face, creating a demure and sultry glamour look, reminiscent of Old Hollywood silver screen starlets. This gown is made of organic silk an was handmade by artisans in Nepal.
