Reflections on London Fashion Week AW26: Artistry, Advocacy, and 180 Strand
A grand ballroom with crystal chandeliers and mirrors, filled with reduced designer gowns and bridal accessories is most certainly a dream for brides-to-be. Brides Magazine, UK made this dream come true and organised a sample sale event at the lavish Mandarin Oriental Hotel in London. For two hours brides and their entourage were able to meet designers face to face, try on dresses while sipping champagne and purchase their dream dress at a discounted price.
It was the first time attending this yearly Brides magazine’s bridal sample sale event for Sanyukta Shrestha and her team. Hundreds of brides-to-be were strolling across the room gawking over the dresses and within half an hour the rails hung empty for gown fittings. From the Wallis gown to the Evelyn dress, Tiffany gown to the Audrey H dress, brides rushed back and forth trying to find their perfect bridal style. Accessories like veils and belts, once placed, added to the splendor of the gown.
Caroline Castigliano brought contemporary dresses for modern-day princesses while a range of whimsical lace creations by Katya Katya Shehurina surely catered to boho brides. A great range of vintage inspired Sanyukta Shrestha eco friendly bridal gowns brought elegance with a unique selection for brides while soft swaying dresses with beading by Alan Hannah gave brides a great assortment of dresses. Eliza Jane Howell‘s glamorous gowns inspired from the golden age of fashion and Stephanie Allin’s figure enhancing corsetry rounded the bridal dress selection up. One could definitely say that brides-to-be had a great variety of styles to choose: from simple to bold, from vintage to contemporary, from corsetry to fluidity.
Brides who were looking for their Cinderella slippers found a stunning selection at Freya Rose and Emmy London. Maids to Measure and Two Birds brought their lovely bridesmaids collections and Amanda Wakeley brought a sexy range of beachwear for the perfect honeymoon wardrobe.
It was a brief affair, yet a delightful one. It felt like one lavish white parade. We would like to congratulate all the brides who found their dream dress at this event and special congratulations to all the new Sanyukta Shrestha brides.
