Award winning bridal designer Sanyukta Shrestha is well known for her unique made-to-measure service with its highly customer oriented approach. Here she share her wisdom that she has gained over year’s of experience designing bespoke gowns:
There are many benefits of a bespoke gown. When I sit down with my bride I want to understand the whole concept of the wedding and her vision of the dress. Each bespoke gown is a unique cohesion of the bride’s wishes, personality and her body shape. I want my brides to have the dress of their dreams. They come to me with their vision and I feel incredibly grateful that they trust me with realizing their dream. As a trusted designer it is my duty to design a dress that is flattering and compliments the beauty and individuality of the bride.
Bespoke gowns are made to the exact measurements and usually involve several toile fittings. The bride is involved in every step making it possible to give her own creative input and hand pick every element. A bespoke bride can see her dream turning into reality, from the first sketch to the final gown.
Sometimes brides want to wear important family heirlooms like antique lace veils or headpieces like tiaras. Creating a bespoke gown gives the bride the flexibility to wear the heirlooms without making them look old or out of place but rather making them part of the whole ensemble.
Brides-to-be who are thinking of a bespoke gown should put a lot of research into finding a trustworthy and most importantly experienced designer. You should let the designer give expert advice as he/she will know how to incorporate your own vision into a dress that will work for your body type. Also don’t be afraid of working together with a designer if you haven’t found your dress yet, a bespoke gown might be the right option for you. Your gown will be unique and will reflect your personality. Every bride I have worked with really enjoyed the experience and the feeling of wearing something truly unique.
