It is now almost exactly a year ago that our lovely bride Allie married the love of her life Tom. The whole Team of Sanyukta Shrestha would like to wish you a happy first wedding anniversary. Let’s take a moment to look back at this rustic but chic barn wedding which took place at Cripps Barn in Gloucestershire and was featured on Whimsical Wonderland Weddings blog.
THE DRESS & ACCESSORIES
I knew the shape I was looking for and I really liked the vintage designers. I didn’t want to wear a veil or have any ‘bling’ on the dress so decided on having a vintage hair comb, earrings and cuff to add a bit of sparkle. The hair comb, earrings and cuff were from Jenny Packham and my shoes were from Dune.
FINDING THE DRESS
I didn’t realise how long it took to have a wedding dress made and when I started looking, 7 months before the wedding, I soon found out I didn’t have long to decide. The first bridal shop I went to was Sanyukta Shrestha. There were two dresses I liked. The front of one and the back of another, so together with my mum and Sanyukta we ended up creating a new design based on one and taking some of the details I liked from the other to create my own bespoke wedding dress.
Allie’s bespoke wedding gown was based on the ‘Sienna‘ dress from the Entwined Love bridal collection. The dress is made of beautiful crochet lace and organic fair-trade cotton. I truly enjoyed working with Allie. Offering her a bespoke service helped Allie to make her dream wedding gown a reality. -Sanyukta
THE VISION
We wanted a relaxed party with our family and friends, with great food, drink and live music. After getting engaged in February I wanted to get married in the winter before the end of the year so we didn’t have much time to find a wedding venue and start the planning! Pinterest became my ideas board and I spent many nights pinning all the things I liked, to develop the theme. I wanted pastel colours and a rustic, shabby chic feel. Lots of hessian and twine.
THE PLANNING PROCESS
Working in Marketing I am often involved in planning events and this was no different. I almost forgot that the event was for me! I spent a lot of evenings on the iPad looking at Pinterest and blogs for inspiration and researching suppliers. I wanted to get the invite design complete first as that would be the style I would carry through to all the other detail. Once the venue was booked and the wedding dress was on order I spent a lot of time on eBay and Amazon buying everything from buttons to chalk boards. I worked on a lot of the décor myself including painting pallets and signs and doing mock set ups of the tables, sweets table and other details, so I could see how it would all come together. And lots of check lists!
MEMORABLE MOMENTS
Playing the drums with the band and feeling like I was playing a gig to a packed crowd. The way that our family and friends all came together and supported us which we were really touched about. Having a truly amazing day from getting ready in the morning to dancing the night away.
ADVICE FOR OTHER COUPLES
Enjoy the planning process together. Pinterest and blogs were really good for inspiration and getting together ideas and themes in one place. Creating some of the details and décor yourself is fun and can save money. Look on eBay and you will find everything you could possibly need! Enjoy every part of the day and try and take it all in.
